How to setup Proximity Voice Chat Mod for noobs

Using the CurseForge Mod Manager

Note: At some point CurseForge will ask for access to your microphone. Make sure you allow access.
  1. Download the Standalone installer for CurseForge (Not the Overwolf version) here
  2. Run the CurseForge Installer from step 1
  3. Now that you have installed CurseForge, find the app and open it
  4. You may have to login or create a CurseForge account
  5. Once in the app, navigate to the Home tab
  6. Select Minecraft
  7. Click on the 3 dots in the top right, next to your account name, and Click "Open game settings"
  8. Scroll down to find "Allocated Memory", then set the value to ideally 8000MB to 10000MB. I wouldn't set this to more then 75% of your computer's RAM, Minecraft doesn't see any preformance boost past 10000MB.
  9. Click the "x" at the top right to exit the settings menu
  10. Click the "+ Create" button under "My Modpacks"
  11. Name the profile "Voice Chat" or whatever you'd prefer
  12. Set Minecraft version to 1.21.10
  13. Set the Modloader to Fabric
  14. Click Create
  15. Now you should be viewing the profile and see"This modpack has no content". Click the "+ Add More Content" button that is below "Play" or "Cancel"
  16. In the search bar, search for "voice chat"
  17. Install the Simple Voice Chat mod by henkelmax by using the orange "Install" button
  18. Recommended Optional Installs:
  19. Hit the x at the top of the search page, in a circle
  20. Click Play and Enjoy
  21. Once inside of a world, press "v" to open the voice chat menu and set your preferences

For Windows:

Note: The download links for steps 2 and 3 are for minecraft version 1.21.5. If a newer version is available you must use the most recent version instead, you can navigate to the downlaod sites for step 2 and 3 using the respective links: Forge Mod
  1. Download Java JRE here
  2. Download Fabric mod loader here
  3. Download the voice chat mod here
  4. Run the file from step 1
  5. Run the file from step 2
  6. Use the keyboard shortcut WIN+R (Windows key + R) to open up a Run window
  7. In the Run box that appears type %appdata%
  8. Hit OK
  9. Navigate to the .minecraft folder
  10. Check if there is a folder called mods, if not create a folder and name it "mods"
  11. Put the file from step 3 into the mods folder
  12. Close the file explorer window
  13. Open the minecraft launcher
  14. To the left of the PLAY button, you should see a drop down menu that has "Fabric Loader" selected, if not use the menu to select "Fabric Loader"
  15. Go to the Installations tab and find the Fabric Loader installation
  16. Click the 3 dots to the right of it and choose "Edit"
  17. Click "More Options"
  18. In the JVM Arguments field, change the "2G" after "-Xmx" to ideally 8G, preferably 10G. I wouldn't set this to more then 75% of your computer's RAM
  19. Click PLAY and enjoy



How to import a custom modpack

  1. Download the Standalone CurseForge mod manager here
  2. Follow the installation guide
  3. Open CurseForge, optionally you can set up an account with them
  4. Open up the Minecraft area, and find the Import button
  5. Input the profile code and click input
  6. Once the installation is complete, click play
